Sometimes you have to take one for the team, especially during the holidays. I painted this lovely tree for my mom, as I am a starving artist and couldn't afford to get her that in-seat dvd and chrome rim set she wanted for her ride. I used acrylic, stain, and polyurethane. Heavy chemicals are a first for me, but they gave me a lot of ideas for future work on wood. I would say this is a very commercial piece. The stiffs at my mom's work agree. It's a one of a kind, though, so don't get any ideas about commissioning me, suckers.

Hey All-
In observance of Christmas we will be CLOSED
SUNDAY DECEMBER 26
MONDAY DECEMBER 27

…see you next Tuesday!

January will hold some inconsistencies with our schedule, as the building will be undergoing some intrusive construction within the confines of SLAS. Information is hard to come by from the powers that be, but we will be updating you as soon as we hear more info.

Art pick up time! If you've purchased a piece from the Sally Loo's show, come on by the shop and pick em up. If you haven't paid, please do so then, too. I take all kinds of payments, if you know what I mean. Get here as soon as possible and by any means necessary, maybe by your pink bunny palanquin.

Yep...and now a few words from Ryan:
"nick cannon.....I mean c'mon..... " Look at the world..space..when it comes down the world will know..Orion's belt....mars....jupitor with a soft J..these things we may never come to know. Such as Zeus..In the words directly taken from arguably the smartest human being in the world, Gilbert Gottfried "Well, I play Jews and parrots. Parrots are how I've branched out."

I will never let Ryan blog again. That was dumb.

New Work Chronicled on Flickr

Hey there-

Mr. Fred Thursday is chronicling my latest work on his Flickr page. Don't try and friend him, he doesn't care about that stuff. In fact, he made me use my email to set up a Flickr page. I personally am not a fan of that site, but it's a good way to see a lot of my work all at once, and it's easy for him to upload a bunch of stuff at the same time. Bluecanvas is miserably slow for me, which is why I rarely do so. Sorry folks.

In other news, I've taken my phone number off of this page due to a friend drunk dialing me all the way from America's Hat. Please use the emailz if you need to get at me, dawg.

No Sandwich Days

Hello Faithful Followers and/or Stalkers (I'm not judging, I'm actually glad you care)-

News First: If you have purchased a piece from the Sally Loo's show and would like to pick it up, you can do so on the 15th of November. As previously stated, the show has been extended (to December 15), which means that there will be holes in the "collection" if you do take it, but don't let that stop you from being happy. I will replace the divits if you are dying for your new piece.

As some of you know, I am trapped at my store. Most of the time I'm unprepared, food-wise. So, instead of closing the shop for a few minutes or preparing myself for the day by making food ahead of time, I drink water and complain and draw bizarre things like this:

I'm not proud, no sir, I am not.

Hey

..check it out I'm putting together an Etsy site so now you can buy stuff from me and love it or if you happen to hate me you can just buy it and smash it with a hammer. The money spends either way.

Sally Loo's "Die Trying" show will be up until December 15. Yes, I do feel bad for bumping the artist after me, but poppa's gotta make some money.

For those of you too far away, or just too lazy to go to one of the best cafes in San Luis Obispo, I present to you these photos of my latest installation.

The New Times was kind enough to write an article about the show.

Many thanks to all that helped the night of the install: Lakin Hamilton, Jenn Hix, Ryan Preciado, Eli Stein, Aidan Lindstadt, Adam Monkaba, Jamie Coxon and David Spiva were instrumental in the biggest show of my career.

Last but not least, to those of you who attended the show, and those that purchased pieces--thank you for your extremely meaningful support.

The show will be up for two months. If anyone out there is interested in purchasing a piece or would like more information about the show, do not hesitate to shoot me an email.

like this post needs a punchline?

My good buddy Reid Cain created this lovely masterpiece. Look for it in the Autumn Arts issue of the New Times and get a free handshake when mentioning the ad whilst visiting my show, which will be up from Oct. 15 till November 15.

The Home Stretch

Well, I thought I could get 100 drawings/paintings done, then I thought 80, then life got in the way and now I have 60 to show at Sally Loo's on October 15th. I'll also have some cool installation type pieces painted on the wall, so that will make up for my obvious shortcomings. You want a sneak preview? Too bad. Ok, fine, here's a picture I did of my good pal Cody Bown in ballpoint pen:

I know, I'm a regular Leonardo DaVinci. I swear the show will be slightly better than this funny-only-to-me sketch of my best Canadian pal. It will be up for a month starting October 15, so come on by, grab some coffee and be entertained.

ps: I know you're out there watching, why not just email me and say hello?

Where have you been?

Howdy-
I've taken a few trips down to LA secretly to try and plan out my next move artistically, as options for showing my work here in SLO are very thin. I'm planning on showing over 80 pieces at the Sally Loo's Cafe show on October 15th, which will have some old favorites, but mostly a ton of new, never before seen stuff. Will I get to 80 pieces? Well, right now the count is at about 50 and I have about a month and a half to go, so unless I work on a piece about every day, I don't know. I'm trying, folks. Get off my back. LA was fun, but where I used to have my foot in a lot of doors I have found myself a stranger in a very strange land.
No one is safe:

See what I mean?

Group Show Time

Greetings-

I'm showing a couple of my diorama pieces in a group show at a cute little gallery called Deer Run in Cambria, CA. They will be up for a month, I gather, so if you happen to be driving through the area, good for you. It's beautiful on the Central Coast this time of year.

Here are the actual factuals:

Greetings- I have news. Obviously. I don't blog about the weather here, buddy. Sally Loo's Wholesome Cafe has been kind enough to give me a show in October. I have no idea what I will show, but it probably will be pieces that don't have swear words in them. It's a nice place, my favorite cafe, so I'm not gonna louse it up. The show will be up from October 15 through November 15 and will feature a mix of both my 2-D and 3-D work, most of which will be brand new and reasonably priced. I started this blog because my horrible hosting company was charging me a pound of flesh to host a tiny one-page site. While I have many pounds I'd like to give them, they preferred cash and it left me & my art without a "professional home". So, I figure I should throw out a couple of links to sites that have my artwork. Here goes: Bluecanvas- Most of my current work and some of my last paintings are on here. Buzznet- This is an older photosharing site I sometimes frequent. It's pretty obnoxious. Enjoy. -n

Stuff That Has Or Will Be Happening As Of Late

Greetings. Here's some stuff that has happened, in no particular order:

* I was hired to do an illustration for the New Times, a San Luis Obispo weekly paper. It was fun and I was paid in advertisement space.

* I am putting together a series of diaramas. I have six so far and you can see them here.

* With the help of some really amazing people, I am coordinating an event for SLO called Last Friday. On March 25th, there will be 6 different parties going on at the same time throughout the city in celebration of the lowbrow & contemporary art scene.

* I'm doing 10 pieces for the "$100 & Under" show at the Jeff Claassen Gallery.

* March 25th I will be creating my very own Brodeo with the "+Plus One1" collaboration show at San Luis Art Supply.
